The forthcoming National Development Plan should include a significant rationalisation of the planning process to increase the speed of implementation of business projects, the Irish Management Institute said yesterday.

Addressing a management practices conference in Galway, the institute's chairman, Mr Kieran McGowan, said time to market and implementation speed were critical in the technical era.
