Irish employees feel less secure and more concerned about the safety of their current jobs than their European co-workers due to the downward turn of the world economy, a new survey has found.

An online poll conducted across Europe by recruitment firm Monster found just 38 per cent of Irish workers who voted on the local Monster.ie site feel secure in their jobs.

In comparison, some 79 per cent of European workers said they felt secure or only mildly concerned about their current positions. And just one in five is anxious that the impending slowdown may threaten their positions in the workplace.
