Technology stocks led a market dip in New York yesterday in quiet pre-holiday trading, sliding for a third straight day amid renewed worries about that group's exposure to Asia.

The Dow Jones industrial average fell 17.93 points, or 0.2 per cent, to 9,114.44 despite an early 32-point gain, closing the week about 100 points below May 13th's record of 9,211.84.

Broader stock measures also retreated ahead of the Bank Holiday weekend, with the technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index again drawing some of the heaviest selling pressure.

The technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index fell 15.99 to 1,805.00.
