Matheson Ormsby Prentice has been named as European Law Firm of the Year 2001 in a competition run by Legal Business, an international legal publisher. The award is open to law firms from across Europe and MOP beat two large international firms, Linklaters and Lovells, to win the award.
The award is recognition of the growth of the firm over the previous decade underlined by the volume and value of business transacted and growth in personnel numbers, according to the firm.
MOP has 40 partners and and a total of 233 fee earners compared to 14 partners and 56 fee earners in 1991. MOP advised the Government on the sale of I NPC to Tosco Corporation and also advised on the sale of ICC Bank to Bank of Scotland.
