McGovern moves post at 3Com Ireland

Mr Jim McGovern has been appointed country manager at 3Com Ireland

Mr Jim McGovern has been appointed country manager at 3Com Ireland. He will be based at 3Com's facility in Dublin and replaces Mr Brendan Garry, who left the company in November.

Mr McGovern joined 3Com in 1996 from Cabletron Systems where he was country manager. He has worked in the networking industry for 14 years in the US, Britain and Germany.

3Com employs more than 1,600 people in the Republic and its European manufacturing facility is based in Blanchardstown, Dublin.

Ms Caroline Keenan is the new brand development manager with Maxol. She was previously brand manager for Revlon UK and worked on a number of its brands. She will now be responsible for the strategic development and marketing of the Maxol brand.

Four associate partners have been appointed at Andersen Consulting, the management and IT consulting company.

Ms Anne-Marie Taylor is director of human resources, she previously worked in the same area for the company internationally.

Mr Alastair Blair specialises in treasury and risk management within the financial services sector and has worked with institutions in Britain, Europe and the Middle East. Mr Kenneth Byrne specialises in the implementation of change programmes for several financial services and technology-based organisations.

Mr Dermot Reidy specialises in finance and performance management and is head of enterprise business solutions in the Republic.

Mr John Twomey is becoming sales manager at Adidas Ireland, the sport's equipment company. He has worked with the company since 1994 and has held positions in sales and most recently as key account manager.

Reuters Ireland has appointed Mr Brian Reid as technical manager. He joined the company in 1989 as communications engineer and previously worked with the US company, Timeplex.

Mr Tim Wynne becomes head of marketing at Jacobs Ireland, which is part of the Danone Group.

He will be responsible for category marketing for sweet biscuits in Britain. He previously worked with Nestle Ireland and Nestle Britain.

Mr Bob Trott, chief executive of Cuisine Foodservice, a division of Avonmore Waterford is to retire as a director of the company in the new year. He will become non-executive chairman of Cuisine Foodservice in April 1999.

Meanwhile, Mr Ned Sullivan, group managing director designate, has been appointed an executive director with effect from January 4th.

Apex Fire Protection has appointed Mr David Bridgeman- Smith to its board. Mr Bridgeman-Smith was previously divisional director of Apex Fire.
