Internet Ireland, which runs the Unison Internet service provider (ISP), has laid off its Web design team, with the loss of 10 jobs, following a strategic review of the operation. Unison recently reported 5.6 million page impressions per month.

A company spokesman said the group had decided to focus on core activities and to grow the Unison brand and presence, rather than Web design.

Chorus is a 50 per cent shareholder in Internet Ireland and uses the Unison platform to provide Internet access via digital television.

Some 43 staff continue to work at Internet Ireland, which is also 50 per cent owned by Independent News & Media.
