NY boost pushes up prices on DAX

German shares ended bourse trade yesterday at higher levels, reaping the benefits of a higher close on Wall Street overnight, but with sentiment muted by the weaker dollar.

The DAX-30 index of leading German shares ended 25.77 points higher at 3,353.45.

In post bourse trade the index fell 21.72 to 3,347.54.

And Finance Minister Mr Theo Waigel said that Germany would qualify for European monetary union on time.

CAC-40 (2620.97 (+0.34)

French stocks ended fractionally higher yesterday, helped by Wall Street's gains, but off their session highs as a stronger than expected U.S. industrial production data fanned fears of higher interest rates.

The blue chip CAC 40 index finished up 0.34 point at 2,620.97.
