More than 7,750 work days were lost in three industrial disputes in the second quarter of this year, the latest figures show.
The Central Statistics Office said yesterday that 7,754 days were lost in three industrial disputes in the three months ended June 30th.
This compares to 572 days during the comparable period last year.
The disputes involved 1,445 workers at three different companies; two were in the industry sector and involved moer than 1,300 workers and accounted for over three-quarters of the days lost, while the third was in the wholesale and retail sector.
The disputes included a strike at CRH subsidiary Irish Cement over increments which staff said were due to them. The strike affected plants in Limerick and Drogheda.
