Life assurance company Standard Life has appointed Mr Rory Minto as branch services manager

Life assurance company Standard Life has appointed Mr Rory Minto as branch services manager. Mr Minto, who holds a certified diploma in pensions, joins Standard Life from Hibernian Life and Pensions where he worked for more than 10 years.

Swiftcall has announced the appointment of Mr Tommy Tuite as associate director. Mr Tuite joined Swiftcall in 1998 as general manager and, since then, he has had responsibility for call centre operations, business development and sales for Swiftcall disposable card portfolio. He is now commercial operations manager at the company.

Staffware has promoted Mr Robert Glenn to managing director of its UK region where he will be responsible for overseeing Staffware's business operations in the UK and Ireland. Mr Glenn joined Staffware in 1999 as a senior account executive, before becoming sales director of its division covering utilities, public sector and general commercial business.

Mr Gordon Murphy has been promoted to chief financial officer at Bord na M≤na. Mr Murphy joined Bord na M≤na in September 2000 as group financial controller. Prior to that he was group financial controller and company secretary of Kingspan.

A number of new appointments have been unveiled at Data Electronics Group. Mr Maurice Mortell, who was previously director of business development, has been named as chief executive. Mr Liam Kehoe has been appointed executive chairman of the company.

Mr Tom O'Rourke has been appointed chief airport police officer by Aer Rianta at Dublin Airport. Mr O'Rourke has been a member of the Aer Rianta airport police service for the past 21 years.

Ms Marina Reilly has joined Mark Mitchell Sales and Marketing as a recruitment specialist in the fast-moving consumer goods sector. Having graduated with an MSc in international food marketing and business management, Ms Reilly has a strong track record in the sector, having previously worked with Masterfoods Ireland.

Watson Wyatt has expanded its team with three new appointments. Mr Neil Herlihy has joined the company from the benefits consultancy division of KPMG. Mr Herlihy will be involved in Watson Wyatt's marketing and business development activities. Mr Paul Victory will provide advice to a range of Watson Wyatt's domestic and multinational clients in the benefits and actuarial areas. Prior to joining Watson Wyatt, Mr Victory was benefits practice leader with Hewitt Associates in Dublin for more than 10 years. Mr Kevin Spring is a partner and a consultant who has worked with Watson Wyatt in Britain and has now joined the Dublin office to help develop the human capital practice and the office's account management activities.

Beamish & Crawford has hired Mr Dave Robinson as brand manager for Miller Genuine Draft. Mr Robinson, who holds an honours degree in marketing from Portobello College, previously worked as category manager for Cuisine de France. Prior to that, he was brand manager for PJ Carroll & Company.

Software company Sepro has announced the appointment of Mr James McCabe as senior vice-president of sales. Mr McCabe has more than 10 years international experience in the telecommunications and IT industry, having held management roles in companies such as Logica and IBM.

Galdevar Architecture & Project Management has appointed Mr Nicholas Sweeney as associate. Mr Sweeney, who joined Galdevar in June 2000, will head up the firm's growing planning consultancy division.

Two new managers have been appointed at Wavin Ireland. Mr Joe Costello joins the company as distribution manager from Cement Technology Corporation in Blanchardstown, Dublin. Mr Derek Brannigan joins Wavin as quality assurance manager from Chilton Electric in Dunleer, Co Louth.

A number of management changes have been announced at NTera, which develops nanotechnology-based products.

Mr Gordon Hall has been appointed non-executive chairman. The company has also appointed Mr Roy Davis as chief executive. Mr Davis was previously with Arthur D Little, the global technology management consulting firm.

In addition, the company's founder, Mr Donald Fitzmaurice has accepted the post of chief technical officer.
