The takeover by Trinity Holdings of the Sunday Business Post has been approved by the Tanaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Ms Harney. Ms Harney said the takeover would "further strengthen the paper's capacity to compete effectively in the modern newspaper market in Ireland".

She added that she welcomed the arrival of the new Sunday newspaper, Ireland on Sunday, which would "enhance plurality and diversity of choice in the sector".

Trinity Holdings, which already owns the Belfast Telegraph, is Britain's largest regional newspaper group.
