THE managers of controversial utility Yorkshire Water were criticised by the industry's regulator over their conduct during last summer's water shortages.

Mr Ian Byatt, director general of the water regulator Ofwat, said he had concluded the company's performance last year resulted from management failures". Earlier this month, Ofwat said its inquiry had found the company guilty of "serious failures" over controlling leakages, minimising supply interruptions, and controlling floods from sewers.
