PAMELA NEWENHAM Centra has announced record retail sales of more than €1.5 billion for 2014, a 3 per cent increase on the previous year's performance.
The retailer plans to add 380 jobs this year, with the opening of 16 new stores.
Centra said growth was underpinned by increased own brand sales, which rose by 14 per cent.
Fresh food sales also drove growth, with sales of gourmet sandwiches sales rising 8 per cent, and pizza sales increasing by 17 per cent during the year.

With 463 stores, Centra employs almost 11,000 people in Ireland. Last year, Centra retailers invested €7 million in store openings and refurbishment, adding 25,000 sq. ft. to the Centra network.
