Analysts will be hoping for some further insight into the state of the nation's coffers when the Office of the Revenue Commissioners produces its annual report tomorrow.

Alliance & Leicester: Friday's interims from Alliance & Leicester will be dominated by the bank's failed merger talks with the Bank of Ireland, stockbroker Greig Middleton said.

Questions will be asked about the reasons behind the breakdown of the negotiations and the company's original motivation behind the deal which had always failed to impress some observers. Others will be seeking hints on future merger candidates.
