The Frankfurt share market fell sharply yesterday, along with other European markets, as the DAX-30 indicator ended at 5632.51 points, down 2.15 per cent from 5756.20 at the Tuesday close. The fall came in the wake of a Wall Street plunge on Tuesday and an irregular New York performance in the first part of the Wednesday session.

Paris CAC-40: 3976.40 (-71.48)

The Paris Bourse kept other European markets company in a general slide, as the CAC 40 index fell through the 4000-point level to finish the day at 3976.40 points, down 1.77 per cent from the Tuesday close. The indicator had remained above the 4,000point level since May 20th, reaching a record high of 4404.94 points during the July 20th session.

Milan MIBTEL: 23607 (-456)

The pattern was the same in Milan with blue-chip shares lower, apart from Olivetti which was 5 per cent higher after positive valuations of telecoms units Infostrada and Omnitel.
