LESS of a moneyspinner than bread, although it at least moved back into the black in 1995, is Sicon, the Sisk family company owned equally by George, Henry and John Sisk and their respective family trusts.
The building industry is supposed to have been booming for the past few years but Sicon, whose subsidiaries include the various John Sisk building operations in Ireland, Britain and Germany as well as contract cleaning operations and car-parks, found the going tough, judging by results provided by Private Research.
Sicon did manage to push up its turnover from £242 million to £268 million, but only managed to make a profit of just over £1 million on those higher sales.
At least that extremely modest profit was an improvement on the 1994 losses of almost £2 million.
