A NORTHERN Ireland-owned software company plans to invest more than £3.5 million to expand its operations in a move that will create 62 jobs in Belfast and Derry.
Singularity, which was set up in Derry in 1994, currently employs 200 people in Northern Ireland, New York, Singapore and India.
The company, which is owned by senior management and staff, chose to locate new jobs in the North rather than expand its presence overseas. The investment will increase its workforce to 161 people in Northern Ireland.
Padraig Canavan, managing director of Singularity, said: "We compete at the highest levels internationally and consistently win. Our ability to do that is based on hiring the best people and continuously focusing on what our customers want. We have achieved a lot, but we have even greater ambitious for our future."
The Derry company will receive financial assistance from Invest Northern Ireland totalling £1.28 million towards the cost of the investment project.
The city of Derry has also enjoyed another jobs boost thanks to the expansion of a local tele-marketing company. Censys, which is based at the University of Ulster's Science and Research Park at Magee, has recruited 20 additional employees after new contract wins with blue-chip financial services clients in the UK.
