Online advertising platform Adroll has hired Dublin-born Silicon Valley veteran Patrick Mee as its new vice president of engineering.

The company, which announced it was setting up in Dublin at last year’s Dublin Web Summit, also told The Irish Times it was now considering setting up an engineering hub here too after hiring its 100th employee in its sales, account management, business development and finance team.

Marius Smyth, AdRoll's Managing Director of EMEA, said: "We've been growing at break-neck speed. We had hoped to have 100 by the end of this year but we are already there.

Mr Smyth said Adroll, which is backed by investors including Peter Thiel a co-founder of PayPal and the first outside investor in Facebook, had doubled its office space in Dublin 4 in order to increase its numbers to 220 by the end of next year.

“We are looking at Dublin as a home for a new engineering function,” Mr Smyth said. “It is a real indicator we are here for the long-term.”

Mr Smyth said Mr Mee will be based in Adroll's headquarters in San Francisco but would also have responsibilities as its Irish-based business expanded.

“Some of the most complex challenges facing engineers today are in the ad tech space and I am excited to join AdRoll at such a dynamic time for the company,” Mr Mee said. “I look forward to spending time in our Dublin office supporting this development.”

Mr Mee has worked in Silicon Valley for two decades. He started his career with Apple and has worked with a range of technology firms as a senior engineer including Ning, SourceForge and Ecast.
