Charity:Intel has donated €372,000 to 150 community organisations, charities and schools across Ireland.
The donation is part of its Matching Grant Programme, which sees the tech giant pay $10 from the Intel Foundation for every eligible hour that employees at its Irish operation spend volunteering with qualified non-profit organisations and schools. A minimum of 20 hours must be built up before the donation scheme begins.
Organisations to benefit from the more than 60,000 hours volunteered by Intel staff, and subsequent donation, include the Children’s Sunshine Home and LauraLynn House, Chernobyl Children’s Appeal, the Irish Cancer Society and other organisations including sporting clubs, animal sanctuaries, scouting groups and schools.
Of these 60,646 hours, 46,827 were eligible for the grant.
The scheme, which began in 2008, is in operation at all Intel’s major sites around the world. Intel Ireland has donated more than €1.3 million over four years under the programme.
