Microsoft gives Office for Mac a timely makeover

Microsoft Office for Mac has been looking a little dated in comparison to its PC, tablet and smartphone counterparts. While these all got a significant overhaul in recent months, the Mac version is stuck in 2010 (released in 2011).

Mac users with the latest OsX (Yosemite) can try the preview version of the upcoming Office for Mac 2015 for free, ahead of the official release later this year. All programmes in the Office suite – Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint – have a new look and new functionality and, like the iOS and Windows Phone versions, it is integrated with Office 365. So there’s the option to get it for free as part of the 365 subscription or the traditional once-off purchase.
