Web Log: Discovery Channel sharks go virtual reality

Forget Shark Week – this is Shark Life. The Discovery Channel has its own virtual reality company, Discovery VR, which has made a bunch of 3D Mythbusters shark videos for the somewhat expensive Samsung Gear VR headset to experience these videos in their three-dimensional glory because the Discovery VR app can be downloaded for Android or iOS and used in conjunction with the budget-friendly Google Cardboard viewer.

If on the laptop, mouse over to move around and look behind you because it’s a 360 view. If you’re using Google Cardboard all you need to do is move the phone around to turn. It’s also recommended that you put in earphones for a completely immersive experience. The Mythbusters commentary is fun but it is so cool to watch all the sharks whizz by you and overhead. They even bump into the camera. Watch out, here comes a big one …you’re gonna need a bigger screen.
