ALMOST half of the new businesses set up in Temple Bar in Dublin since 1991 are first time enterprises, according to a survey. When asked about the reasons for setting up in the area, 68 per cent cited environmental improvements, such as cobbling, street art and lighting.
Refurbishing and the building of new shops by Temple Bar Properties was ranked second at 63 per cent, private sector development was ranked third at 57 per cent, with tax incentives fourth at 52 per cent.
The survey, by INDECON, noted that 133 apartments and 20 new retail outlets had been developed by Temple Bar Properties and a further 87 apartments and 51 new retail outlets by private developers.
