ADMINISTRATORS HAVE been appointed to a Co Armagh company which has specialised in manufacturing car accessory products and floor tiles over 30 years.

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) confirmed its appointment as administrators yesterday to Markethill-based Reflex Mouldings which is owned by brothers Paul and Peadar Hurson. PwC said it had been appointed administrators following a request from the directors of Reflex Mouldings.

The Northern Ireland-registered business, which employs 71, initially manufactured mats, mud flaps and number plates for the car industry.

In recent years it diversified into new markets and developed an interlocking PVC floor tile, manufactured under the FlexiTile brand, for industrial, commercial and domestic use.

The floor tile enjoyed strong sales, particularly in the Republic and across Europe. Reflex Mouldings secured significant contracts from Tesco, Jaguar and Boeing.

Just two years ago Reflex Mouldings invested £2 million and created 34 jobs in an Invest Northern Ireland-backed bid to expand its floor tiling business.

The company’s main manufacturing base is in Armagh, but it also operated distribution centres in Lichfield in Staffordshire and Kansas in the US.

Paul Rooney and Garth Calow, partners in PwC, have been appointed as joint administrators.

Mr Rooney said: “Our immediate priority will be to evaluate the company’s financial position and take a view on the status of the order book and on existing contracts. When that is complete, we will make a decision on the way forward.”
