German shares ended higher in rangebound trading in thin volumes. Dealers said that the Wall Street Holiday and the shortage of corporate news left the market bereft of inspiration.

Paris CAC-40: 3225.12 (+37.39)

The Paris Bourse advanced though trading was thin because of the French school holiday period and the absence of leads from US markets, which were closed for President's Day.

However, traders said the Bourse had been encouraged by the fact that the New York marked posted its fourth straight record high on Friday after having been down most of the session on profit-taking ahead of the three-day weekend.

Milan MIBTEL: 19656 (+79)

Milan shares changed in late trading to end the day higher, lifted by gains by Eni and Fiat.

Domestic investment funds still have a lot of cash to invest and while this strong technical situation remains, prices are expected to keep firm.
