Win a romantic stay at Ballymaloe House Hotel in East Cork

The Irish Times has teamed up with Ballymaloe House Hotel to offer one lucky winner a romantic getaway to Ballymaloe House Hotel. This prize includes an overnight stay in a newly developed suite, a bottle of bubbly, breakfast, and a seasonal five-course dinner, created with farm-to-fork principles.

Ballymaloe House Hotel is a luxurious Irish country house hotel in East Cork. A family-owned, retreat with a long-standing sustainable farm-to-fork experience, nestled within 300 acres of farmland. This historic family home has evolved into a luxury country house hotel by maintaining the charm and character of the original house, combined with contemporary comforts. The relaxing pace surrounded by vibrant countryside and authentic Irish hospitality creates a genuine respite from a busy urban life.

The house includes 32 bedrooms, all individually designed, and seven dining rooms including the original Yeats Room. Menus are created with farm-to-fork principles, using seasonal produce from the walled garden, the farm, and various local producers, creating a culinary delight concluding with Dessert Trolley.

Your stay at Ballymaloe House begins with a slice of seasonal cake and freshly brewed tea or coffee, served in the Drawing room, in front of an open fire. The guests can enjoy various seasonal activities, strolls along the woodland paths, and a visit to the walled garden or the farm – a pair of wellingtons and a map are provided to help you explore. Daily guided tours allow you to learn about the history of Ballymaloe, the importance of biodiversity and the efforts we make to preserve it or take a visit to the historic wine cellar.

Ballymaloe House Hotel was established in 1964 by Myrtle and Ivan Allen and built on a philosophy of farm-to-fork principles. The use of the farm produce, and choosing the finest, freshest ingredients resulted in consistent culinary excellence. These together with her unwavering commitment to sustainability, are still the core values at Ballymaloe House Hotel today.
