RTÉ presenter Ray Kennedy has taken a defamation case against DMG Media and Evoke.ie over a photo used in an article.
The RTÉ Nine O’Clock news presenter lodged two cases in the High Court on Monday, which are understood to relate to claims he was defamed over the use of a photo of him in an article published on Evoke.ie.
The legal case was filed against Evoke.ie and DMG Media Ireland, the media group that publishes the Irish Daily Mail, Irish Mail on Sunday and Extra.ie.
The case listed Sybil Mulcahy, DMG’s head of content for female brands, as a co-defendant, as well as Microsoft website MSN, which publishes links to news stories from other publications.

The second case filed on Monday lists Ms Mulcahy, DMG Media Ireland and Evoke.ie as defendants.
Mr Kennedy, who is represented by Lennox & Co Solicitors, said he could not comment on the matter when contacted.
The news anchor has worked for RTÉ since 2008, having previously presented the weekend news at the broadcaster before moving to present the Nine O’Clock news.
In a statement, Evoke.ie said: “DMG Media does not comment on ongoing proceedings.”
A spokeswoman for RTÉ said the broadcaster had no comment to make on the case taken by the presenter.
