On Wednesday night at Finn Park, Jaevid was selected by the team manager, Micheal G Higgins, to become captain of the team. Unfortunately, his best friend Chanice was not selected as captain as there could only be one captain. Jaevid felt proud because it was the first time he had become captain but he was disappointed for his friend Chanice as he knew how much effort she had made.

Chanice was annoyed that she didn’t get the role. She was happy for Jaevid deep down but had lost her confidence and felt like she was not good enough for the team. She was annoyed with Jaevid because he knew how much she wanted to be captain too.

Jaevid thought that she meant it and said: “You’re welcome.”

This was followed by an eye roll from Chanice.

Jaevid realised she was a bit upset and he said defensively: “Calm down!” Chanice was trying to be brave and cover her disappointment. She said: “Well done for getting captain.”

Jaevid muttered to himself: “Ó mo Dhia!” but said aloud: “Thanks a lot!!!”

Chanice said: “I better go, Mum is waiting in the car for me.”

Before she left, Jaevid shouted after her: “Are you not happy that I was made captain?” Chanice turned around and put both hands in front of her and replied: “What do you think?”
