An article in last Friday's editions headed "Greens may contest civil servants' role in constituencies" said the Minister for the Environment, Mr Dempsey, had 10 civil servants working on constituency matters, at a cost in 1999 of almost £153,000. This report was based on information supplied by the Minister to the Dail, and included the constituency offices of two Ministers of State. The Minister wishes to clarify that only four of these civil servants work on his constituency business at an annual cost of £71,912.

An illustration which appeared in last Saturday's editions accompanying an article on the Spencer Dock development was incorrectly captioned. It should have read that this was a computer-generated image showing Mr Dermot Desmond's proposed ecosphere in the Custom House Docks site in juxtaposition with the proposed National Conference Centre and other elements of the Spencer Dock scheme. The error occurred in the editing process.

When errors occur it is the policy of The Irish Times to correct or clarify as soon as it is practicable.
