In a report headed "Environmentalists criticise Byrne's stance" in last Thursday's editions, Dr Ruth McGrath, spokeswoman for the environmental organisation Voice, was quoted as saying "Why do consumers have to have a choice?", in relation to the EU decision to allow the sale of genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Dr McGrath points out that what she actually said was: "Why should consumers be forced to make this choice?"
Southern Cross, a newspaper for the Irish community in Argentina, was founded in 1875, not 1975, as stated in a report headed "Long memories of the forgotten Irish diaspora" in the editions of July 25th.
The British army general officer in Northern Ireland, Lieut Gen Alistair Irwin, was incorrectly described as Lieut Colonel in yesterday's report headed "Escalating sectarian violence puts UDA ceasefire under examination".
