Also working as an architect with Clancy Moore, Clancy won an IDI award in December for the Carvel chair.

Made from hand-shaped larch using traditional boat-building techniques, it’s a collaboration with shipwright Matthew O’Malley – in keeping with Déanta’s ethos of marrying craft to material to make wonderful things.

Joseph Walsh

Self-taught designer Joseph Walsh is a global phenomenon. He is based in Co Cork, and his fantastic, romantic pieces are masterpieces when it comes to pushing the properties of wood to its limits.

He has recently started experimenting with resin and stone, but his most famous piece is still the Enignum Canopy Bed – definitely one to dream in and of.

Working from their small workshop in Snugboro, Co Wicklow, Kelly and Roddy believe that anyone can have well-designed Irish pieces at affordable prices. All the furniture is made on site, usually in their favourite wood – ash.

The pair's designs match simplicity with function and beauty, and the Dip-Dye range is notable. They also work to commission.
