Declan Kiberd

Declan Kiberd was born in Dublin in 1951. He took a degree in English and Irish at Trinity College, Dublin, and he holds a doctorate from Oxford University. Among his books are Synge And The Irish Language, Men And Feminism In Modern Literature and Idir Dha Chultur. He writes regularly in Irish newspapers, has prepared literary scripts for the BBC, and is a former director of the Yeats International Summer School. As well as being Professor of Anglo-Irish Literature and Drama at University College, Dublin, he has lectured on Irish culture in more than 20 countries. He is married with three children.

A.T.Q. Stewart

A.T.Q. Stewart was born in Belfast where he was educated at the Royal Belfast Academical Institution and Queen's University. After some years in teaching, he returned to Queen's as a lecturer, and was appointed Reader in History in 1975. He retired in 1990 to devote more time to writing, and he is a frequent broadcaster on radio and television. He has written many articles for newspapers and journals. His publications include The Ulster Crisis, The Narrow Ground: Aspects of Ulster, 1609-1969 for which he was joint winner of the first Christopher Ewart-Biggs Memorial Prize. The Summer Soldiers was also shortlisted for the Christopher Ewart-Biggs Memorial Prize.

Breandan O Buachalla

Breandan O Buachalla was born in Cork in 1936. He obtained his primary and postgraduate degrees in University College Cork. He has lectured at Queen's University, Belfast, and the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies. He is currently Professor of Modern Irish Language and Literature at University College Dublin. His publications include I mBeal Feirste Cois Cuain, Peadar O Doirnin: amhrain, Nua-Dhuanaire II, Cathal Bui: amhrain, and Na Stiobhartaigh agus an tAos Leinn: King Seamas.
