Imelda May at Iveagh Gardens: Stage times, set list, ticket information, how to get there and more

Dubliner Imelda May has been busy, to say the least. Fresh from almost 50 shows across Europe with her Made to Love tour last year, she is back in her hometown for a gig at the Iveagh Gardens.

Liberties born-and-bred, May’s most recent album, 11 Past the Hour, marked her fourth number one album in Ireland and fourth top 10 in the UK. So, what can we expect of her Dublin concert this weekend?

When does she play?

The concert is in the Iveagh Gardens, off Dublin’s Harcourt Street, on Saturday, July 22nd.

What time should I arrive?

Entry to the event will be via the Clonmel Street gate, which will open at 6.30pm. Early queuing is not permitted and concertgoers have been asked to respect the property and privacy of residents in the area.

Who are the support acts?

Concertgoers are in for a treat with three different support acts set to take the stage before May. Combining anthemic rock influences with contemporary sounds, first up is Irish indie act Hawke the Band, who hail from Dublin’s south inner city.

Singer-songwriter and actor Niall McNamee, who featured on May’s latest album, will follow after. McNamee, May’s boyfriend of the past couple of years, has often duetted with her on stage and will hopefully join her to perform the song they wrote during the pandemic, Don’t Let Me Stand On My Own.

After McNamee, Queen Bees will takeover for about a half-hour before May kicks off her performance.

There is no car parking available at the event but there are car parks around the city centre. The closest is Q-Park at Stephens Green Shopping Centre. Pre-booking is available at q-park.ie.

Are there any tickets left?

If you haven’t got a ticket yet, you might just be in luck. At the time of writing, there is a limited amount of tickets available through Ticketmaster – so grab one before it’s too late. Remember to purchase tickets from accredited sources only.

What’s the story with security?

All under-18s must be accompanied by an adult. Only bags under A4 size will be permitted into the venue and bags will be subject to a search.

Items not permitted include: any article that may be used as a weapon, bottles, cans, flasks, frisbees, illegal substances, scooters, skateboards, flag poles, selfie sticks, flares, laser devices, prams/push chairs, inflatable and folding chairs, large suitcases/rucksacks, laptops, illegal merchandise items, umbrellas, hampers, cold boxes, air horns, alcohol, drinks, food and animals (except service dogs and guide dogs).

There will be food and drink available to purchase on site but fans should note it is a cashless venue and there is no ATM on site so make sure to bring cards or keep your phone charged for electronic cards.

Any person deemed to be offensive, abusive or who may compromise public safety will not be admitted and may be reported to gardaí. There will be a first aid post at the venue staffed by trained medics.

Can I take photographs at the concert?

Yes but not with a professional camera, including those with a detachable lens.

What’s the weather forecast?

According to Met Éireann, there will be showers on Saturday, with highest temperatures reaching between 16-19 degrees. As with Two Door Cinema Club and Bell X1 at the Iveagh Gardens on Thursday and Friday, it’s probably best to bring a raincoat.
