This is a genuinely capricious collection. Aline Zylberajch and Martin Gester, partners in life as well as in music, open with the joyous clamour of a two-keyboard concerto by the 18th-century Spaniard Soler, and then, by way of a short improvisation, shift to two tootling pieces for musical clock by Haydn. There are grand set pieces, Mozarts duet sonata in B flat, K381, and a two-harpsichord arrangement, "A la manière de Bach" of Vivaldis Double Violin Concerto, Op. 3 No. 8, which Bach arranged, but not for this combination of instruments. And spread throughout the collection (which also runs to pieces by Schobert, Telemann and Haydns brother Johann Michael) are a set of four agreeably quirky and stylistically mongrel pieces for two harpsichords by Peter Planyavsky. Completing the capriciousness, Planyavskys Prelude is the last item on the disc. url.ie/e468
