La Liberación V2 ***

You will remember Cansei de Ser Sexy from their buoyant Let's Make Love and Listen to Death from Abovesingle and once-ubiquitous presence on Irish gig listings. Like the band, you'll probably prefer not to recall their dog of a second album, Donkey. CSS in 2011 are a combo eager to show they've learned from past mistakes and know where they now stand. To this end, La Liberaciónleans more towards the colourful, giddy fizz of their debut than towards the more laboured grunge of the last album. You'll find it hard to resist nodding your head and tapping your foot to the sun-splashed delights of Hits Me Like a Rock, with Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie adding some skewered incantations to the mix, and the Chic-friendly Red Alert.
