Mount Wittenberg Orca Domino****
The notion of Björk as a Dirty Projector collaborator makes a world of sense. After all, if you were looking for another voice to get giddy in Dave Longstreth's majestic, heavenly harmonic ensemble, Björk would be an ideal addition to the ranks. First performed in May 2009 at a live show in New York and originally released in 2010,
Mount Wittenberg Orcais a compelling suite of songs inspired by the California whale-watching adventures of Dirty Projectors' Amber Coffman. There's an odd concept involving the female singers as whales (Björk, naturally, is the mother whale), but leave your scepticism at the door and prepare to be dazzled by songs and sounds that soar and sway with great abandon. In some ways, it's a wonderful re-rendering of Björk's
Medulla, with Longstreth and his chorus of singers pushing the songs higher and higher. See dirty projectors.net
