It is apt that Rammstein's first compilation is called Made in Germany.The band have had the effrontery, nay the chutzpah, to achieve global success by singing in their own language, which adds an air of both menace and mystery to what they do. This is a band that could never hve come out of the Anglo-American rock'n'roll tradition. An inspired melange of Metallica, Kraftwerk and Wagnerian bombast, their music defies categorisation. They are, for want of a better expression, so German. All the showstoppers are here from the elemental riffing of their best known songs ( Du Hastand Ich Will) to the sonic majesty of Sonneand Engel. The only slight disappointment is the only original track on it - Mein Land. Rammstein are not for everybody - you either get them or you don't. If you do, their first Irish concert in Dublin next February cannot come quickly enough. See rammstein.de/en
