A little under a year ago, the Brazilian conductor Robert Minczuk (above) found himself in hot water as artistic director of Brazil’s Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira, where a process of re-auditioning players turned into an industrial relations nightmare. Minczuk’s flamboyant music-making has been heard with the RTÉ NSO before, and he returns on Friday for a programme of Wagner (Siegfried’s Rhine Journey), Strauss (the First Horn Concerto, with the redoubtable Cormac Ó hAodáin as soloist) and Bruckner (the Seventh Symphony).
