Finghin Collins continues his cycle of Mozart piano concertos with the RTÉ NSO. There's just a single concerto (K450 in B flat) in the programme, but there's a second soloist (Dutch soprano Lenneke Ruiten, right, offering a selection of arias), and Collins will also conduct the overture to Così fan tutteand the Symphony No 26.
The Sligo Festival of Baroque Music will feature the Italian/ Irish duo Arparla, a recorder, bassoon and theorbo trio, and a French programme with baroque dancers from the ensemble Florilegium.
The East Cork Early Music Festival gets underway with a Bach and Schütz programme from the choir Madrigal ’75. Both festivals feature harpsichordist Malcolm Proud’s touring Bach Partitas project, with introductions by David Ledbetter.
Cork will also have the London Handel Players with soprano Emma Kirkby, the Irish Baroque Chamber Soloists, French cantatas sung by soprano Róisín O'Grady, and a Hibernian Museprogramme at Fota House.
And the Waterfront Hall in Belfast is resuming its orchestral promotions. Thursday will see the Irish debut of the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra under Yuri Simonov, with Barry Douglas as the soloist in Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No 1.
