It’s a week full of unusual offerings. Tonight the final concert in the BBC’s free invitation series with the Ulster Orchestra offers a rare opportunity to hear a major work by Horatio Parker (the teacher of Charles Ives), when Colm Carey (left) plays his Organ Concerto. Nicholas Braithwaite conducts, and the programme also includes works by Tchaikovsky, Elgar and Shostakovich.

Two solo organ recitals mark the Liszt bicentenary. At St Michael's, Dún Laoghaire, David Adams plays the composer's Prelude and Fugue on BACH, as well as some Bach, some Chopin arranged by Liszt, and some Liszt arranged by Adams. Gerard Gillen's lunchtime recital at the Pro-Cathedral in Dublin is an all-Liszt affair.

Emma Doyle is reviving Annelies Miskimmon's OTC production of the 12-year-old Mozart's Bastien and Bastiennefor a short tour that begins in Enniscorthy on Saturday. The production will also visit Dublin, Anaverna House near Dundalk, Farmleigh House and Borris House in Co Carlow.

And on Thursday the Irish Chamber Orchestra begins a tour that couples Grieg's HolbergSuite and Ginastera's Concerto for strings with two works by Irish composer Dave Flynn: Music for the Departedand the new An Irish Farrago( from O'Carolan to Ó Riada). Both call on the talents of the traditional fiddle and guitar duo Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill. The tour, which opens in Limerick, will also take in Dublin, Trim, Clifden and Sligo.
