Ardent festival-goers in need of their fix after last weekend’s hectic nationwide schedule will be pleased to hear that there are some smaller events taking place around the country over the next few weeks.

The Garden Sessions (gardensessions.com) is being billed as more of an "intimate music affair" rather than a raucous festival, but boasts an impressive line-up of Irish bands and artists, nonetheless.

The festival is being held next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in the walled rose garden of the Chestnut Hotel and the County Arms Hotel in Birr, Co Offaly, and all proceeds from the gigs will go to local charity the Offaly Hospice.

There will be eight acts per evening, with Cathy Davey, Jennifer Evans, We Cut Corners, Whipping Boy, R.S.A.G., Go Panda Go, The Gorgeous Colours and more set to perform across the three days.
