Some musicians don't go away, the fire in the blood and compulsion in their system never submitting. One such is Dublin-born songwriter/performer Alison O'Donnell, who was – in a different, earlier life – a member of highly regarded '60s Irish "psych-folk" band, Mellow Candle. Her new album wouldn't be out of place if you positioned it beside any latter-day freak folk offerings, with songs such as In the Snowmelt, Swans they are a-Feeding, Memorial, and The pull and drag Blues (the only nod to today's beautiful noise) ensuring that O'Donnell sounds as connected as she's ever been. alisonodonnell.com
