Pop Corner: Selena’s slinky, Kelly’s ballsy

The latest pop news, including Bieber working with Ben and Rita not working things out with Calvin

Track of the week: Good for You by Selena Gomez

Selena’s back with a super slinky jam. The track’s all about dressing up for your love interest, with Selena comparing herself with all sorts of luxury goods, and promising to “syncopate my skin to how you’re breathing”. In someone else’s hands, that line could come across cringe, but not here. It’s grown-up in the right way: relaxed and confident. 10/10 Selena.

Hero of the week: Kelly Clarkson, who has stopped caring about the opinions of others. She told Digital Spy that "if you're confident and ballsy, you're a bitch . . . if I were a man it would be considered bold and confident. It's not, unfortunately, if you're a woman. That hasn't changed – it's still the same as it was in the fifties and that's how it was when I was 19. The difference between that and now is that I just don't give a shit anymore."

Really ridiculously good-looking news of the week: Justin Bieber will be in the new Zoolander movie. Justin told Women's Wear Daily. "I start the movie off. [I'm] the first thing you see in the movie, which is pretty cool. I do this whole, like, parkour sequence. I've never really done something like that before. I didn't expect Ben [Stiller] to be so hands on . . . It was really cool to have him direct me in such a nonthreatening way. I wasn't intimidated at all."

Zero of the week: mixing business with pleasure. Rita Ora told Marie Claire about why she and Calvin Harris broke up. "I was at that point in my relationship where I felt he could do no wrong. I thought he had my back and that he'd never steer me wrong."

However, she went on, things took a turn. "But then I Will Never Let You Down came out, and everything started to go a bit weird. I don't know if it was because business was mixed with personal or what."
