It's no surprise that Mark Evetts' Stone Breakeralbum has got so much love from the gallery. From start to finish it glistens and glitters with the Birmingham producer's house and techno smarts. Tracks are colourful, audacious and gloriously simple, Evetts reworking familiar threads into a whole new outfit.
You can hear traces of what Evetts (pictured) learned when he reshaped Janet Jackson, Womack & Womack and Diana Ross hits into slow-motion disco-house nuggets. This time out, though, his re-editing techniques are pressed into emphasising and amplifying the subtle tones of new tracks.
It’s a busy night for Hssh at Pogo, with live sets also from 18-year-old electronic whizz-kid Moths, Jon Dots, Laser Tom The Blast Crew and the excellent I Am The Cosmos, as well as Frank Bingo, Joma, Frankie Grimes, David Kitt and Nialler9 on the decks.
