Two names from that grand old city of Detroit top the bill on Middle Abbey Street tonight. Most will know DJ Rolando from his Underground Resistance ties of old and, of course, that incredible track, Jaguar, which made his rep back in 1999. These days, Rolando lives in Edinburgh, has severed his ties with UR, spins at clubs such as Berlin’s Berghain and has found a home for new releases on labels such as Ostgut Ton. Kyle Hall (pictured), on the other hand, is the face and sound of new Detroit, a talented youngster already producing moody, soulful, deep cuts which tip the hat to old-school cats such as J Dilla and Moodymann, but are very much forward-looking.

In addition to Rolando and Hall, you’ve also got Barry Redsetta, Olan from All City Records, Frankie Bingo and the Anatomy, Galactic Beat Club, Fatty Fatty and External Sound crews on the bill.
