For the Dutch trance DJ and producer, a gig in Belfast with a couple of thousand people losing their marbles is just another night at the office.
The man born Tijs Michiel Verwest pulls crowds like this with great ease these days as the demand for his sound and spectacle means he is playing bigger and bigger rooms and arenas.
It’s all about scale, as Tiësto has gone from writing and performing the music for the opening ceremony at the Olympics in 2004 to releasing albums and doing tours – each one seeming bigger and more outlandish than its predecessor.
In recent times, he's veered away from the techno/trance formula with which he made his name (and fortune). The Kaleidoscopealbum, and particularly the electrohouse-tinged C'mon, Catch 'Em By Surpisesingle with Diplo and Busta Rhymes, showed he can go beyond the comfort zone. Support is from Alex Metric, dubstep don Caspa and Rod Azlan.
