It's rare that a record label boss has experienced the nuts and bolts of actually being a working, successful musician. But Bella Union's Simon Raymonde has previous form in the rather glorious shape of Cocteau Twins, which was more often than not defined by the vocal purity of Elizabeth Fraser. Yet here he is again, and once more in the empathetic company of a female singer – Stephanie Dosen. With further assist from Radiohead's Phil Selway and Ed O'Brien (as well as Midlake's Eric Pulido and Laurel Canyon songwriter Jonathan Wilson), Moon is very much the sum of its parts. If that means you're gently shoved aside by the kind of melodies that make you look out of your window and zone out for minutes at a time, then so be it. One – and a beautiful one at that – for the dreamers. bellaunion.com/artists/snowbird
