The visceral edge of live performance is bottled and bagged in this collection, gathered from a summer concert series that kicked off in 2010. The series is stewarded by Cormac Begley, a fine exponent of the concertina (and the baritone concertina at that) from west Kerry. His duet with his sister Clíodhna on fiddle is a masterclass in timeless musicianship and restrained emotion, with Cormac exploiting the bellows of his instrument to the fullest. Stately pacing, rich tune choices and straight-as-a-die playing are the defining features of this thoughtful collection, with piper Pádraic Keane, singers Saileog Ní Cheannabháin, Helen Diamond and Breanndán Begley, and flute player Gary Hastings stretching the canvas countrywide. A snapshot in time that promises to stand its test with no small touch of class. tunesinthechurch.com
