Derry’s third Walled City Music Festival concentrates on chamber music and its artistic directors, Cathal Breslin and Sabrina Hu are both performers.

Breslin partners violinist Dmitry Sitkovetsky (pictured), a former principal conductor of the Ulster Orchestra, in the complete violin and piano works of Brahms. Hu surveys Irish works for flute and guitar by Linda Buckley, Greg Caffrey, Frank Lyons, Jane O’Leary and Ian Wilson with guitarist Matthew Slotkin. Li-Wei Qin and Bernard Lanskey offer works for cello and piano by Beethoven, and pianist Matthew Schellhorn presents a second Irish survey, of pieces by Ed Bennett, Siobhán Cleary, Raymond Deane, Donnacha Dennehy, Nicola LeFanu, Jane OLeary, Elizabeth Maconchy, Deirdre McKay, Gráinne Mulvey, and Ian Wilson.

Also appearing are the Fitzwilliam String Quartet, percussionist Colin Currie, clarinettist Emma Johnson with Ciara Moroney (piano), and trumpeter Tine Thing Helseth.
