The more you listen to the third album from White Lung, the more possibilities present themselves for where the Vancouver band go from here. Their punk rock is fierce, angry and visceral, a relentless racket powering Mish Way's ruminations on feminism, body image and sexism. On Deep Fantasy, the production, overall sound and song arrangement are much clearer than the hardcore thrash that previously ruled White Lung's roost. Kenneth Williams's brilliant, agile guitarlines and Marie Vassiliou's thumping drum patterns cut down the clatter and improve the signal-to-noise ratio, while Way's cathartic lines spin ever more uncomfortable and biting narratives into the melodies (see Lucky One, Drown with the Monster and I Believe You). Here's a band truly capable of taking very big steps. facebook.com/whitelung
