The contents of Ballea Castle, Carrigaline, are to be sold on the Cook Street premises of Joseph Woodward & Sons in Cork next Wednesday. The auction, starting at 10.30 a.m., features a large range of oak furniture, such as a pair of marble-topped console tables, a Victorian court cupboard, a Victorian library table, a large refectory table and sets of Victorian carvers and dining chairs. Other items worthy of note include: a 19th century mahogany breakfront bookcase; a Georgian bow-fronted chest of drawers; two Regency rosewood side tables; and a Victorian lady's chair. On the following Wednesday, January 21st, the remainder of the castle's contents will be disposed of by Woodward's.
