Elvis Presley Enterprises is owned by Elvis's daughter Lisa Marie, who inherited the entire estate in 1993 at the age of 25 and took over the chairmanship of the board five years later.

Previously, the company president had been her mother and Elvis' ex-wife, Priscilla, who remains on board as an adviser.

Other people are attempting to make money out of Presley on a smaller scale.Some gamblers are still convinced that Elvis has not left the building, but the difference in faith between English and Irish punters is instructive.

Irish bookmakers Paddy Power offered odds of 10,000 to 1 on Elvis being discovered alive, and got one believer to wager €10. But across the water the odds were one-tenth as negative. Graham Sharpe, of bookies William Hill, said they had taken a bet of £50 that Elvis lives.

"We take scores of fiver and tenner \ bets each year on the same theme," Mr Sharpe said.
